Ukraine’s new low-cost carrier; SkyUp will launch flights between Kyiv and Istanbul. Initially, the carrier will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The first flight will take place on 25 September and ticket prices start from US$59 one way without luggage, according to Ukraine Travel News.
Turkey is one of the most favorite tourist destinations among Ukrainians. Last year, 1.5 million Ukrainians spent their holidays and weekends in this country.
Turkey allowed Ukrainians to enter the country from 1 July without PCR testing and self-isolation. According to information from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, traveling to Turkey requires the following documents:
- passport of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad or a passport of Ukraine as an ID-card;
- a health insurance policy that covers the costs of treating Covid-19 in Turkey. It can be purchased online, from a tour operator or at the airport in Turkey.
Turkish citizens can travel to Ukraine with their new ID cards and/or passports. There is no visa required for Turkish citizens traveling as tourists. However, due to the pandemic, travelers are required to have insurance to cover medical expenses in Ukraine. The health insurance must be purchased before flight.
In addition to SkyUP Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and Ukraine International Airlines fly to Kyiv from Istanbul. Turkish Airlines recently resumed flights to five Ukrainian cities.
