McDonald’s Korea Removes Tomatoes from Burgers

McDonald’s Korea has unexpectedly removed tomatoes from its burgers, leaving customers curious about the missing ingredient.

To compensate, the fast-food giant is offering free drink coupons to those who order burgers that typically feature tomatoes.

“We thank you for your patience and kind understanding,” the company said in a statement, promising efforts to resolve the situation swiftly.

The sudden change comes as McDonald’s Korea continues to support local farmers, typically sourcing around 2,000 tons of tomatoes annually to ensure fresh, high-quality ingredients.

However, regions such as Jangsu County in North Jeolla Province and Cheorwon County in Gangwon Province have been particularly affected, with tomato crops hit hard this year.

McDonald’s Korea’s popular burgers, including the Big Mac, are now being served without tomatoes, adding a new twist to the customer experience while the company works to resolve the unexpected shortage.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, an unusually difficult season for tomato harvesting has significantly reduced supply, causing the shortage that McDonald’s Korea is now facing.

While efforts to stabilize the tomato supply are underway, customers can still enjoy their burgers alongside complimentary drinks until the situation improves.
