WTTC and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Ties

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and the Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia have reached a significant milestone by extending their partnership, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This historic agreement follows the successful Global Summit held in Riyadh last year and emphasizes the Kingdom’s dedication to enhancing its Travel & Tourism sector.

Saudi Arabia is allocating a remarkable $800 billion to unveil the full potential of its stunning landscapes and cultural riches to travelers around the globe. This monumental agreement brings together private and public sectors to develop a sustainable strategy for growth.

The MoU was signed during the Kingdom’s World Tourism Day event in Riyadh and fortifies the collaboration between WTTC and Saudi Arabia. It aims to promote job creation, talent development, and global business opportunities within the Travel & Tourism sector.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, expressed her enthusiasm about the new chapter of cooperation, stating, “Together, we can continue to create a powerful synergy that will open doors to endless opportunities, benefiting travelers, businesses, and destinations alike.”

Princess Haifa bint Mohammed Al Saud, Vice Minister of Tourism for Saudi Arabia, emphasized the importance of this extended partnership in moving towards a more sustainable tourism sector and highlighted the crucial role of public-private partnerships in shaping the future of Travel & Tourism.

This partnership is set to elevate tourism on global and national scales, focusing on expanding skills, innovation, entrepreneurship, investment, and fostering a more sustainable and resilient Travel & Tourism sector. It will also emphasize community empowerment and inclusion and will collaborate on crisis preparedness, management, and recovery, incorporating the invaluable lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This renewed commitment from The Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia showcases its robust support for the Travel & Tourism sector and its dedication to a more prosperous and sustainable future.
