Lagardère Travel Retail renews duty free and fashion concessions at Geneva Airport

Lagardère Travel Retail has renewed its duty free and fashion concessions at Genève Aéroport, extending a partnership with the Swiss airport that dates back to 2011. The renewed agreement covers 1,660m² of duty free retail space, 500m² of multi-brand fashion, and an additional 84m² mono-brand fashion unit.

The announcement, made on 2 June 2026, also follows the selection of Lagardère Travel Retail to operate five Travel Essentials outlets at the airport, marking the upcoming debut of the RELAY brand at Geneva.

As part of the new agreement, all stores will undergo a comprehensive refurbishment, with a full redesign and refit planned to deliver an enhanced customer experience. The renovation will feature the global debut of Lagardère Travel Retail’s new duty free concept, built around a strengthened sense of place that celebrates the culture and produce of Switzerland and the canton of Geneva.

The project combines innovative retail concepts, a curated brand mix, immersive experiences, and high service standards, while also incorporating sustainability commitments. Lagardère Travel Retail has operated fashion concessions at Geneva since 2011 and duty free since 2017.

“We are pleased to continue this longstanding partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail, which will contribute to strengthen Genève Aéroport’s identity through an enhanced retail experience,” said Jean-François de Saussure, CEO of Genève Aéroport. “We are particularly delighted to see a strong focus on local products and brands creating a true sense of place that reflects the identity of Geneva and Switzerland.”

Kristina Mees, Chief Commercial Officer of Genève Aéroport, said the airport had been impressed by the ideas Lagardère Travel Retail brought to discussions. “We have been impressed by the fresh thinking and ideas that the team brought to our discussions, and by their determination to raise the bar for retail even higher,” she said. “We are very confident in their ability to deliver a compelling and high-performing retail experience at Genève Aéroport, fully aligned with our strategic vision.”

Frédéric Chevalier, Chairman and CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail, described Geneva as a dynamic and vibrant market for airport retail. “This new chapter in that relationship illustrates both the strength of our local operations and our ability to continuously elevate our offer through close collaboration between our Swiss and global teams,” he said. “It also reflects our strategic ambition to further develop innovative and high-performing retail experiences in mature and high-potential markets.”

Lucio Rossetto, COO Europe and North America of Lagardère Travel Retail, highlighted Switzerland as a highly strategic market for the company. “Europe, and Switzerland in particular, is a highly strategic market for Lagardère Travel Retail, offering strong opportunities for innovation,” he said. “At Genève Aéroport, the strength of our longstanding partnership, combined with the stability and performance of our operations, provides a solid foundation to successfully deliver our latest duty free concept.”

Pascal le Droff, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Switzerland, said the renewal reflected both the quality of the partnership and the commitment of local teams. “Together with Genève Aéroport over many years, we have been confronted by challenges, but the quality of our discussions, our mutual understanding, and the alignment of our goals have enabled us to maintain the highest standards of service for travellers to and from Geneva,” he said.

Lagardère Travel Retail operates more than 5,000 stores in airports, railway stations, and other concessions across more than 50 countries. The company, a subsidiary of Louis Hachette Group through Lagardère group, generated €8.0 billion in sales in 2025.
