Honda LPGA Thailand Golf Championship Returns to Avani Pattaya Resort

Avani Pattaya Resort is ready to welcome back the world’s top professional female golfers as the official lodging partner for the Honda LPGA Thailand Golf Championship for the second consecutive year.

The prestigious US$1.6 million (50 million baht) tournament will be held at Pattaya’s Siam Country Club on March 10-13, with all 70 athletes, VIPs and organisers staying at Avani Pattaya Resort on March 7-14. The winner of last year’s tournament, Ariya Jutanugarn, who became the first Thai native to win the 15-year-old tournament, will have golf enthusiasts on the edge of their seats once again. Also competing this year, golfing stars such as Danielle Kang, Brooke Henderson, Patty Tavatanakit, Atthaya Thitikul etc.

During their stay at Avani Pattaya Resort, the Honda LPGA Thailand team will host a welcome reception at Sala Rim Nam, an alfresco Thai pavilion nestled beneath coconut palms and surrounded by lotus ponds. In an effort to raise funds for the Siriraj Foundation, the Honda LPGA Thailand will also organise a black-tie charity auction in the ballroom for players, sponsors and honourable guests.

IMG, the event’s promoter, has been working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand and the Department of Disease Control to supervise the event’s compliance with public health measures.

Following the guidance received from the authorities regarding the tournament’s COVID-19 prevention and detection measures, IMG has arranged daily SHA Extra+ transportation and testing under the Test & Go project, in addition to developing COVID-19 protocols for participants, caddies, media and attendees.

Like last year, SHA Extra+-certified Avani Pattaya Resort received full support and guidance from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Sports Authority of Thailand to ensure the property fully complies with internationally recognised COVID-19 protocols.
