Super Bowl

The Road to Super Bowl LIII

The date for the 53rd version of the Super Bowl has been set. All that remains is to determine the two teams that will play on that day. Since February 3 is just around the corner, games that will decide who competes in one of the biggest sporting events in the world will be played in the coming days.

There are eight teams remaining, four from each division. Starting January 12, these teams will fight for the right to play at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Only two will be able to do that, one from each division.

Here’s how the teams will be whittled down to two:

Divisional Playoffs

Four teams from the two NFL divisions battle it out to emerge on top. The winners of each division go on to try for more glory at the Super Bowl.

The AFC Division features the following teams:

  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Kansas City Chiefs
  • Lost Angeles Chargers
  • New England Patriots

The following teams will try to win the NFC Division:

  • Dallas Cowboys
  • Los Angeles Rams
  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • New Orleans Saints

These are the games that will be played:

  • January 12, AFC 1: Colts vs Chiefs
  • January 12, NFC 1: Cowboys vs Rams
  • January 13, AFC 2: Chargers vs Patriots
  • January 13, NFC 2: Eagles vs Saints

Those who like stories accompanying their NFL fixation will likely appreciate that these matches feature veteran quarterbacks in Tom Brady and Drew Brees. Both have also won the Super Bowl, with Brady winning more titles.

Another interesting story this post-season is the presence of two Los Angeles teams: the Rams and the Chargers. Both teams also moved to LA from their previous homes, San Diego and St Louis, respectively.

The Philadelphia Eagles are the defending Super Bowl champions and it remains to be seen whether they can retain the title.

Conference Championship

Four teams remain by this point, two from each conference. Teams from the same conference battle each other for the right to represent the conference at the Super Bowl.

At this stage, your predictions start to look a bit clearer. With fewer teams to consider, you can make better-educated guesses regarding which one will move on. While there is no guarantee that your team of choice will perform according to plan come Super Bowl day, you can rest easy knowing that you made a choice based on their performances leading up to the big event.

Super Bowl LIII

The Super Bowl is a meeting between the winners of the AFC Division and the NFC Division. Apart from being the last game of football played for the 2018-2019 season, it’s also an event that involves entertainment and a whole lot of commercials.

The Super Bowl halftime performance is one of the segments that viewers look forward to. Artists are chosen to perform at halftime put on a mini-concert of sorts to entertain the crowd while each of the competing teams regroups and refocus.

With a million viewers worldwide, Super Bowl halftime artists put on quite a performance. And there have been a lot of great performances over the years, including those by Beyonce and Katy Perry.

The halftime entertainment for the 53rd edition of the Super Bowl will be provided by Maroon 5. The band has had many hits in the many years they have been active, and it remains to be seen which ones will make the set list.

Commercials are another attraction of the Super Bowl. Many of the big names in business air short ads during the event that ranges from heart-warming to hilarious. While not everyone appreciates seeing a product promotion during breaks in the game, some have fun with it.

Many commercials over the years feature the same theme that they become rather predictable. The predictable actions are put down as choices in a game of Super Bowl Commercials Bingo. It will be fun trying to see how many of the predictions actually came true. Who says enjoyment of the game should only be related to what’s happening on the field?

Viewers can also create games focusing on what transpired during the broadcast. They can drink a shot each time the camera pans to pretty girl or a couple. Shots can also be taken for actions done by players or something happening to players (making an interception, scoring a touchdown, or sustaining an injury).

The Super Bowl is one of the most watched sporting events in the world, and it is closely approaching. So start making your predictions now or start devising games that will allow you to have fun even when there aren’t bodies running around in the field.
