World’s Football Price Index reveals cost of attending the top division games in 25 countries

GoEuro.com, the search engine for comparing flights, coach and rail travel options across Europe, has partnered with Onefootball to calculate the cost of attending the top division football (soccer) games in 25 countries around the world.

Taking top spot for the most expensive country to go to a match is England, with Premier League tickets costing an average of $82.60 per ticket. This is closely followed by Spain where tickets cost an average of $78.09. In Turkey, an average ticket to attend a first league game cost about $14.19, which puts Turkey at the 22nd most expensive on this ranking.

Naren Shaam, CEO of GoEuro said: “It costs almost the same to travel to Germany to see a Bundesliga match as it does to stay in the UK and attend a Premier League game. It’s interesting how each week more than 2,000 British fans travel to see Borussia Dortmund play, and the attraction that these European games generate on the Americans on a weekly basis.”

Utilising several world rankings including UEFA, FIFA, and third party databases, GoEuro.com and Onefootball found the best value leagues, based on the quality of the league and the cost of the ticket, are Germany, followed by Spain, Portugal and England. Turkey ranked here #9.
