Aeromexico Upgrades Dreamliner Wi-Fi with Viasat’s High-Speed Internet

Aeromexico is set to transform the passenger experience on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet with an in-flight connectivity upgrade powered by Viasat.

The airline has selected Viasat’s advanced high-speed Wi-Fi solution to replace its current system, ensuring a faster and more seamless online experience for travelers.

The upgrade will be rolled out across 17 Dreamliners—eight Boeing 787-8s and nine Boeing 787-9s. The installation will begin with the smaller 787-8 aircraft, with the first Viasat-equipped plane expected to enter service later in 2025.

Since 2018, Viasat has provided in-flight connectivity on select Aeromexico aircraft. Now, the airline is expanding its partnership to enhance connectivity across long-haul routes. The new system will allow passengers to stream video, browse the web, and stay connected through real-time messaging at high speeds throughout their flights.

“We’re honored to extend our partnership with Aeromexico,” said Don Buchman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Commercial Aviation at Viasat.

“It’s our mission to bring a consistently high-quality and content-rich in-flight Wi-Fi experience to passengers around the world, and we’re looking forward to delivering this onboard additional Aeromexico aircraft.”

Aeromexico will also leverage the Viasat Ads platform, offering passengers free ad-supported connectivity sessions. This means travelers can enjoy streaming-quality internet at no additional cost while viewing targeted advertisements.

“Providing the best in-flight experience is one of our top priorities,” said Andrés Castañeda, Chief Digital & Customer Experience Officer & Executive Vice President of Aeromexico.

“We work hard to elevate each passenger’s journey to an extraordinary experience, and we know that connectivity is essential. Viasat is a trusted provider for Aeromexico, and with a resilient, multi-orbit satellite roadmap, we look forward to continuing to work together to bring high-quality in-flight Wi-Fi to our customers long into the future.”

The enhanced Wi-Fi will benefit passengers on Aeromexico’s long-haul routes, including flights to Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam, Rome, London, Buenos Aires, and Santiago de Chile. By utilizing Viasat’s high-capacity Ka-band satellite network, the airline aims to improve passenger satisfaction, boost its Net Promoter Score (NPS), and strengthen customer loyalty.

Viasat’s in-flight connectivity solution is designed to adapt to shifting demand, ensuring reliable service even on the busiest routes. With this upgrade, Aeromexico joins a growing list of global carriers prioritizing high-speed internet as a core part of the passenger experience.
