Singapore hosts world’s most compelling travel technology event in October

Some 90 speakers and 550 delegates from over 33 countries will gather in Singapore October 19-22 to participate in the world’s most compelling travel technology event, Web In Travel. In 2015, now in its 11th iteration, WIT has continued to attract representatives of the biggest companies in the industry; those that define each sector of travel, from air to ground, cruise to hospitality and tourism.

Held alongside ITB Asia and under the Travel Rave week of events, Web In Travel (WIT) is the longest serving event for executives discussing matters relating to technology in the travel space.

Built around the central theme of Reboot to promote fresh thinking in the travel industry, key speakers at this year’s main event include senior regional executives from booking companies Agoda and Skyscanner; GDS’s including Sabre and Amadeus; ground services Uber and GrabTaxi; hospitality companies Airbnb, InterContinental Hotels, and HomeAway; those that offer experiences such as Rakuten, TripAdvisor, and MakeMyTrip; and airlines Emirates and Scoot.

This year’s WIT Boot Camp on Oct 19 will also enable both aspiring and current entrepreneurs, travel industry professionals, and investors to come together and keep ahead of the latest trends that will redefine the digital travel space. The 2015 Boot Camp will feature entrepreneurs from start-ups including Rome2Rio and Travelstart, sharing their stories on how they built their businesses, as well as market experts from Phocuswright and ZORAQ.com, as they provide key insights into relevant travel markets and segments.

Taking place at the Boot Camp again this year is the WIT 2015 Start-up Pitch, which provides a platform for entrepreneurs from start-ups to pitch their business ideas to a panel of travel industry experts. Past winners of the Start-up Pitch include Trippiece, BeMyGuest and Relux, now established niche businesses in the industry. This year’s semi-finalist start-ups will present their business to a judging panel comprising CEOs and senior executives from companies including Priceline Group, Wego, Agoda.com and Sabre Travel Network Asia Pacific.

Adrian Currie, senior vice president, corporate development of the Priceline Group says, “WIT Singapore is a must attend event for anyone serious about building their travel brands in the Asia-Pacific market where growth, innovation and disruption are at its core. I appreciate the chance each year to speak at the event, share panel discussions and network with industry peers, and participate in the energy of the Bootcamp with aspiring industry leaders of tomorrow.”
