Starting in April 2023, international visitors to the Bordeaux’ Cité du Vin have been able to discover the multi-lingual version of the Introduction to wine tasting workshop.
This workshop, previously offered only in French, is now available with a recorded commentary in English, Spanish, Italian and German.
Every day at 3.00 p.m., visitors to the Cité du Vin can discover the art of tasting by taking part in the Introduction to wine tasting workshop. This discovery workshop helps participants to easily understand the art of tasting and gain confidence in their ability to taste! The sommelier-tutor explains the different steps as well as the required vocabulary before putting them into practice on 3 wines from around the world.
Since 8 April, overseas visitors to the Cité du Vin have also been able to take part in this workshop by listening to pre-recorded audio clips in English, Spanish, Italian and German.
At the beginning of the one-hour workshop, participants are given a player and a headset enabling them to listen to the 15 clips explaining the process of wine analysis using the senses: the theory, and then putting it into practice.
The tone is friendly, accessible and reassuring. The aim is for visitors to understand and experience the basics of tasting by being guided step by step.
This approach to accessibility for foreign visitors is part of a broader initiative by the Foundation for Wine Culture and Civilisations aiming to make the Cité du Vin accessible to the widest possible audience. It also forms part of Neo-Experience 2023, the project to renew the cultural offer at the Cité du Vin, which has been implemented over the past few months.
The Cité du Vin is open every day from 10 a.m.
