You don’t have to be a gambling aficionado to appreciate a unique casino in an unexpected part of the world. If you love to play poker or try your luck at a blackjack table, then add these casinos to your travel bucket list.
Casinò di Venezia, Italy
Most brick and mortar casinos have a very specific “look” that often includes neon signage, basic architectural exterior, and even a water feature or two. As a casino goer, you’re probably less concerned about what the exterior looks like and are more interested in the games inside.
This casino in Venice is reportedly the oldest casino in the world, which dates back to 1638. Even if you don’t have an undying love for gambling, this one is a “must see” when visiting Venice because the architecture alone (both inside and out) is stunning. You may as well try your luck in an historic casino, as well, just to say you’ve “been there, done that.”
Casino de Monte-Carlo
If you’re a history buff and love gambling, add the Monte Carlo casino to list of places to visit. While it’s about 200 years younger than the casino in Venice, the Monte Carlo casino continues to be a popular place to visit. Reportedly, to help avoid bankruptcy, Princess Caroline recommended opening a casino. Two centuries later, it turned out to be a great idea.
The Casino at McCarran International Airport
If you’re flying to Vegas for a quick weekend trip, the McCarran Airport is a great place to start your lucky streak or get one last game in before you have to head home. If you find yourself having a layover at McCarran, there’s no better way to pass the time than playing at some of their slot machines conveniently located throughout the airport.
Plan a few casino games while you wait during a layover or find a way to unwind before or after a stressful flight.
Trying Your Luck in the Air
If you’ve always wanted to play blackjack miles above sea level, you have a few options. The casino at World Genting Resorts in the Pahang Mountains of Malaysia is a popular pick on “weird casino lists.” It’s secluded, at the top of a mountain, the only legal gambling spot in the area, and sometimes literally in the clouds. The casino gets mixed reviews from tourists, but if you actually visit the casino to gamble, you shouldn’t have any problems.
The Casino Jet Lounge is a passenger jet with a fully operational casino. Think it sounds like something out of a James Bond movie? We think so, too. Don’t let your hopes fly too high. You’re better off playing a game from one of the top ten online casinos while you’re sitting in first class.
Playing Underground
Considering how people used to negatively view casinos, there are probably a ton of underground casinos that we will never discover. The Desert Cave Hotel in Australia is notorious for its underground and operational casino, while there are a few scattered throughout the UK and Europe, which include North Cadbury Court.
