Rovaniemi Gets Ready for Christmas Season Opening 2021


Rovaniemi opens the Christmas Season 2021 on Saturday 20th of November in Santa Claus Village, Arctic Circle.

The Rovaniemi Christmas Opening is an annual celebration honouring the Christmas traditions of sharing Christmas spirit and good will to all children and children at heart all over the world.

This year the event takes place at 4:00 pm on the 20th of November in the central square of Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi.

The musical Christmas performances by Miira Suomi, Jon Sebastian and Inga Söder take the audience, listening on site or online via Livestream starting at 3:45 Finnish time (UTC +2), into the merry moods of Christmas and Winter.

During the event the audience will have a virtual sneak peek into SantaPark´s season opening festivities. The event is hosted by the Head of Likiliike Marika Tiikkaja. As part of the festivities the Mayor of Rovaniemi Ulla-Kirsikka Vainio will present the annual Unicef donation made by the city of Rovaniemi to the General Secretary of Unicef Finland Marja-Riitta Ketola. The traditional Christmas opening culminates in Santa’s arrival and speech – what has Santa got is store for us this year?

The event is free of charge and the live broadcast from Santa Claus Village starts at 3:45 pm Finnish time (UTC +2). The duration of the event is 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm (local time, UTC +2).
