This year’s Chinese National Day holidays coincided with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. All the streets and tourist attractions in Shanghai were filled with a festive atmosphere of joy and peace.
The week-long light shows along the Huangpu River attracted lots of tourists from the night of Sept. 30. On the night of Oct. 2, the Bund area set a new record of 220,000 people for the instantaneous traffic flow.
According to statistics from Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, during the National Day holidays, Shanghai received 10.37 million tourists; the tourism revenue was ¥11.5 billion, up 11.8% year on year; the total number of inbound and outbound tourists was 797,300; the total number of inbound and outbound tourists handled by Hongqiao Airport and Pudong Airport was 749,000, up 0.16% year on year; inbound and outbound tourists handled by Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal was 48,300.
