The Valencian Community celebrated a record-breaking year for international tourism in 2024, with nearly 12 million foreign visitors—a staggering 1.5 million more than the previous year.
This record growth defied economic uncertainties and climatic setbacks, including the DANA storm, which disrupted travel across Spain.
According to the latest data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), all major source markets contributed to this surge. Visitor numbers from Germany, France, and the United Kingdom jumped by more than 20%, while arrivals from Italy and Belgium increased by over 10% compared to 2023.
Despite this impressive annual performance, December 2024 saw a 6% decline in international arrivals, with 667,000 visitors, down from 712,000 in the same month of 2023. However, the region’s tourism sector still achieved another major milestone—record-breaking visitor spending.
Tourists spent a total of €15.2 billion in the Valencian Community throughout 2024, a 20% increase from the €12.5 billion recorded in 2023. On average, international travelers spent nearly €80 more per person, boosting the local economy significantly. December alone contributed €849 million in visitor spending, showing a modest increase from €831 million in the previous year.
Marián Cano, the Valencian Minister of Tourism, highlighted the region’s strong global appeal, stating that these figures “reinforce the importance and positioning of the Valencian Community as a top-level tourist destination in international markets.” She also emphasized that 2025 is expected to set new tourism records, with an expanded promotional strategy targeting the United States, China, and Japan in addition to Valencia’s established European markets.
With sustained growth, increased spending, and ambitious expansion plans, the Valencian Community is poised to strengthen its reputation as one of Spain’s most sought-after travel destinations in the years to come.
