Visit Florida Keys Relaunches Key Lime Academy for Travel Advisors

Visit Florida Keys & Key West has relaunched its Key Lime Academy, an enhanced online training program designed to help travel advisors create more personalised vacations across the Florida Keys. The self-paced certification program provides destination knowledge, itinerary ideas and practical sales tools to help advisors recommend the right island for every traveller.

The updated academy covers every region of the island chain, from Key Largo and Islamorada to Marathon, the Lower Keys and Key West. Advisors who complete the program earn the Conch-Star Specialist designation, recognising their expertise in planning and promoting travel throughout the destination.

The reimagined Key Lime Academy reflects growing demand for personalised travel experiences. Rather than presenting the Florida Keys as a single destination, the programme helps advisors understand the distinct character of each island group so they can better match clients with experiences that fit their interests, travel style and pace.

The online course is organised by region and explores accommodations, transportation options, accessibility features, seasonal travel opportunities, signature attractions and lesser-known experiences. The training is designed to give travel professionals a deeper understanding of the destination while providing practical information they can apply during the booking process.

Graduates also receive access to curated itineraries tailored to different traveller profiles. These include families, couples, honeymooners, solo travellers, adventure seekers and active adults, allowing advisors to recommend trips based on individual preferences rather than offering a one-size-fits-all itinerary.

The Conch-Star Specialist designation highlights an advisor’s ability to recommend the most suitable island, experiences and travel pace while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of one of Florida’s most diverse tourism destinations.

Ed Simon, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Visit Florida Keys & Key West, said: “As travelers continue seeking authentic, personalized vacations, travel advisors remain one of our most valuable partners in helping them discover everything the Florida Keys & Key West have to offer.”

He added: “The reimagined Key Lime Academy gives advisors destination expertise can immediately put into play to create unforgettable client experiences that grow their business.”

The updated programme combines destination education with sales support, helping advisors turn enquiries into bookings while improving confidence when recommending different parts of the Florida Keys. It also reinforces the role of travel professionals in delivering customised holidays that reflect changing traveller expectations.

Personalisation has become a growing priority across the travel industry as more travellers seek experiences tailored to their interests rather than standard holiday packages. Destinations are increasingly investing in advisor education to ensure travel professionals understand local differences, seasonal opportunities and niche experiences that can improve customer satisfaction.

The Florida Keys stretch for more than 120 miles from the southern tip of mainland Florida to Key West, with each island community offering its own atmosphere, outdoor activities and visitor experiences. From diving and fishing in the Upper Keys to arts, culture and nightlife in Key West, the destination appeals to a broad range of travellers.

By expanding its educational programme, Visit Florida Keys & Key West aims to strengthen relationships with the travel trade while helping advisors deliver better informed recommendations and more memorable holidays. Travel advisors interested in earning the Conch-Star Specialist designation can enrol through the Key Lime Academy website.
