Ukraine again imposes a ban on foreign citizens to enter the country due to growth in the coronavirus cases, the country’s prime minister announced yesterday.
The ban will start on August 29 and will last till September 28 and can be expanded if the situation will not get better.
1,974 new active COVID-19 cases had been confirmed across the country in the past 24 hours as of August 27, 2020. The total number of confirmed cases grew to 112,059. The largest number of new cases was reported in the city of Kyiv, as well as in Kharkiv, Lviv, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, and Zakarpattia regions, reports UNIAN.
An exception will be made to foreign citizens who have a residence permit in Ukraine, members of international and humanitarian missions, members of the crew of ships, says Ukraine Travel News.
Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said foreigners who will travel to Ukraine for education will also be exempted.
The entry into the territory of Ukraine will be denied to foreigners, except those in transit and leave the country within two days, studying in Ukraine, serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, have a residence permit in Ukraine, refugees, members of diplomatic missions, representatives of official international organizations, missions or members of their families, as well as drivers and crew members of vehicles, patients, professionals as well as for athletes and artists who come to Ukraine at the invitation of the companies or authorities.
Since August 1st, Ukrainian regions have been divided into four zones – green, yellow, orange, and red – depending on the epidemiological situation.
The softest rules are introduced for the green zone, while the toughest bans are applied in the red zone.
In Ukrainian schools within the “orange quarantine zone”, teachers will be wearing protective face shields in class.
Restrictive measures are also being strengthened in the regions. In regions with a “green” level of epidemic danger, discos, night clubs, concerts are banned.
