In a move aimed at strengthening air connectivity and fostering cultural relations, ITA Airways and the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) have signed a significant agreement.
The partnership will provide preferred fares to members of the Italian American community, ensuring easier travel between the United States and Italy.
As ITA Airways’ primary international market and destination, the United States holds great strategic importance. It is also home to the largest number of Italian origins citizens outside of Italy. Recognizing the significance of this demographic, direct flights connecting North America and Italy serve as crucial links for both leisure and business travel, as well as community integration.
Under the agreement, ITA Airways is offering NIAF members traveling between the United States and Italy an ongoing dedicated discounted offer. Additionally, several flash discount promotions will be available for a limited time. The first of these promotions presents a 20% discount on business class fares (excluding surcharges and taxes) for selected routes, including New York – Rome, New York – Milan, and Boston – Rome direct flights. This flash promotion is valid until July 07, 2023, with the travel period ending on August 31, 2023.
Beyond the flash promotion, NIAF members and their companions will enjoy a continuous 10% reduction on fares (excluding surcharges and taxes) for all routes within ITA Airways’ network connecting the United States and Italy. This discount is also applicable to the entire Italian domestic network, excluding Sardinia. It is available for travel until December 31, 2023, and is valid for all cabin classes: economy, superior, and business.
Robert Allegrini, President of NIAF, expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, “By entering into this partnership with ITA Airways, we are delighted to offer our members exclusive discounts when traveling to Italy. We believe this collaboration will further enhance the connection between Italy and the United States and will make it more economical for our members to experience Italy firsthand.”
Emiliana Limosani, ITA Airways Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized that the partnership aligns with the airline’s commitment to foster political, economic, and cultural relations between the two countries. Limosani highlighted the recent opening of ITA Airways’ new route between Washington Dulles and Rome Fiumicino as evidence of this commitment. The new direct flight between the Italian and U.S. capitals offers five weekly roundtrip flights, which will increase to a daily service from August 1 to accommodate high-season demand. This flight complements ITA Airways’ existing services between Rome Fiumicino and New York (JFK), Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, and, starting from July 1, 2023, San Francisco. Additionally, there will be flights between Milan Malpensa and New York (JFK).
With direct flights to six major cities in the United States, including the recently added San Francisco route, ITA Airways will operate a total of 122 weekly roundtrip flights between North America and Italy. This significant air capacity will provide Italian Americans and travelers alike with increased flexibility and convenience when planning their journeys.
The partnership between ITA Airways and NIAF not only supports tourism but also strengthens the bond between Italy and the United States. By offering tailored discounts and improving air connectivity, both organizations aim to facilitate travel and enable more people to experience the wonders of Italy firsthand.
