Türkiye Makes History by Winning the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship

In a thrilling showdown on Sunday, the Turkish national women’s volleyball team emerged victorious in the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship, defeating China 3-1. This victory marked Türkiye’s first-ever title in the history of the prestigious tournament.

Melissa Vargas from Türkiye proved her prowess by receiving the Most Valuable Player award and the Best Opposite title. Diao Linyu from China was recognized as the Best Setter, while Li Yingying (China) and Martyna Lukasic (Poland) earned the titles of Best Outside Hitters. The Best Middle Blockers award went to Zehra Gunes (Türkiye) and Yuan Xinyue (China), while Türkiye’s Gizem Orge was named the Best Libero.
