Marriott International and MGM Resorts Forge Landmark Agreement, Debut MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR) and MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) unveiled an unprecedented strategic licensing agreement, heralding the creation of MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy.

This landmark venture, slated to launch in October 2023, incorporates 17 illustrious MGM Resorts, equating to over 40,000 rooms across Las Vegas and various U.S. cities.

Starting from October, several MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy resorts will become accessible for booking on Marriott’s digital platforms, including Marriott.com and the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app, with all properties expected to be fully operational by year-end.

Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts, expressed enthusiasm over the agreement, highlighting the mutual benefits. “We’ve seen the strong demand from Marriott International customers through our existing relationship at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. This new agreement will enable us to optimize our overall profitability and offer Marriott Bonvoy members greater access to our award-winning resorts and exclusive event opportunities in Las Vegas and across the U.S.”

Anthony Capuano, CEO of Marriott International, echoed this sentiment, adding, “We look forward to increasing our global rooms distribution by 2.4 percent as we grow our presence on the Las Vegas Strip and in other compelling destinations across the U.S.”

Loyalty program members from both companies will also benefit from the agreement. MGM Rewards members can link their accounts with Marriott Bonvoy and avail select member benefits. Marriott Bonvoy members will be able to earn and redeem points for stays at all MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy properties.

Four properties will affiliate with existing Marriott collection brands: Bellagio Resort & Casino with The Luxury Collection, ARIA Resort & Casino with Autograph Collection, Park MGM with Tribute Portfolio, and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas continuing its affiliation with Autograph Collection.

Eight other MGM Resorts in Las Vegas will join the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy, while five MGM Resorts in other U.S. locations will follow suit.

Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards are set to unlock unique benefits for members, including the ability to exchange MGM Rewards points for Marriott Bonvoy points and vice versa. Marriott Bonvoy Moments will be augmented by MGM’s unmatched offerings, with additional details to be shared in the coming months.

Additionally, Marriott International has entered into a loyalty marketing agreement with BetMGM, MGM Resorts International’s online gaming and sports betting joint venture. BetMGM will become the exclusive hospitality loyalty program partner for Marriott Bonvoy in the U.S. and Canada. The collaboration will offer Marriott Bonvoy members opportunities to earn points on certain BetMGM transactions and enjoy exclusive games and offers on the BetMGM platform.

Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM, declared the agreement to be a significant enhancement for members, promising a “robust rewards program that connects our players and Marriott guests to the full BetMGM omnichannel experience.”
