Qantas has launched a new direct service between Auckland and Apia, giving Samoa a major boost in regional connectivity and making it easier for visitors from New Zealand and international markets to reach the South Pacific island nation.
The new Auckland to Apia route strengthens Samoa’s position as an accessible destination for travellers seeking to combine a holiday in New Zealand with a Pacific island escape. The inaugural flight was welcomed at Faleolo International Airport with a traditional ceremony hosted by the Samoa Tourism Authority, reflecting the country’s renowned hospitality and cultural traditions.
The new connection creates additional opportunities for international visitors already travelling through New Zealand to extend their journey to Samoa, where they can experience the country’s beaches, cultural heritage, natural landscapes and island lifestyle.
Samoa Tourism Authority said the service represents an important step in improving access to the destination while strengthening tourism links with one of its most important visitor markets.
“Samoa has always been a favourite destination for travellers seeking authentic experiences, and this new connection makes it easier for more visitors to discover our islands,” said Niumata Kitiona Pogi, Chief Executive Officer of the Samoa Tourism Authority.
He added that the route would also encourage international visitors exploring New Zealand to continue their holiday in Samoa.
“Importantly, this service also provides an opportunity to welcome international travellers who are visiting New Zealand and looking to add a South Pacific destination to their itinerary. Samoa offers the perfect complement to a New Zealand holiday, providing visitors with the chance to experience our unique culture, pristine natural environment, and the genuine warmth of the Samoan people,” said Niumata Kitiona Pogi.
