Qantas to introduce the world’s first Wellbeing Zone onboard the A350 aircraft in early 2027

Qantas will be the first airline in the world to offer a purpose-built Wellbeing Zone located between the Premium Economy and Economy cabins, where passengers can:

  • enjoy a selection of premium self-serve refreshments such as hydration therapy beverages from the onboard snack bar,
  • follow digital instructors in specially curated exercise videos on large monitors, and
  • use the sculpted surfaces, fitted with comfort leaners and integrated handles, for ease of movement.

Qantas A350 Wellbeing Zone stretch area with padded leaning surfaces, soft lighting and exercise screen for onboard movement.

This bespoke-designed stretch and movement space designed to encourage movement, stretching and hydration, is available for passengers in any cabin at no additional cost. It is located between the Premium Economy and Economy cabins onboard a fleet of 12 new Airbus A350-1000ULR aircraft flying long-haul flights from Sydney to London and New York in early 2027.

Returning to their seats, passengers will also find 12 lighting scenes, including ‘sunrise’, ‘sunset’, and ‘awake’, grounded in circadian-rhythm science to support adjustments to destination time zone differences.

The Wellbeing Zone is the result of years of clinical research conducted by Qantas in partnership with the Charles Perkins Centre, University of Sydney. Findings from test flights showed that simple actions like moving around and using carefully designed lighting can help reduce jet lag and lower the risk of conditions such as deep vein thrombosis.

Seating configuration

Qantas A350 First Suite cabin concept with lie-flat bed, private seat, large screen and premium enclosed layout.

Reducing the number of seats onboard its A350 to 238 compared to the 300-plus seat layout of other carriers means the airline can maximise aircraft performance across long distances.

The aircraft will have six large enclosed First Suites designed to feel like a mini boutique hotel room with a two-metre flat bed, dining table for two, separate recliner chair and a 32” 4k ultra-high definition touch screen TV.

The 52 Business Suites will feature sliding doors for additional privacy, lay flat bed, large dining table, bespoke lighting and 18” 4k ultra-high definition touch screen TV.

The 40-seat Premium Economy cabin and the 140-seat Economy cabin will have the most generous seat pitches of any Qantas aircraft, ergonomic leg and foot rest systems and personal storage options.

The Qantas A350 fleet will connect customers with fast and free WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity will feature across all cabins so customers can connect their personal headset to the individual inflight entertainment screen.
