Air Canada has successfully launched its first direct flight from Vancouver to Dubai, establishing a crucial link between Western Canada and the Middle East.
This inaugural flight, which took off on October 28, marks a significant milestone in Air Canada’s international route expansion, connecting two vibrant and cosmopolitan destinations known for their stunning landmarks, rich culture, and a plethora of entertainment and leisure activities.
Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada, expressed his enthusiasm about the new route, highlighting the unparalleled travel options and conveniences it offers to passengers. “This route links two global hub airports, providing our customers with unmatched travel choices, whether they are traveling for leisure, visiting friends and family, or on business,” he stated. He also pointed out the convenient connections available from Vancouver to various destinations in Alberta, British Columbia, and the western USA.
In Dubai, through a codeshare and frequent flyer partnership with Emirates, passengers can easily connect to a wide array of destinations across the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and East Africa. Tamara Vrooman, President and CEO of Vancouver Airport Authority, emphasized the strategic importance of this new service, stating, “This new Dubai service will facilitate connections between Vancouver and the region, India, and North Africa, further solidifying YVR’s position as a premier transpacific hub.”
Rob Whitehouse, Vice President of Research at Dubai Airports, welcomed the addition of Vancouver to Dubai’s growing list of international connections. He highlighted the seamless link provided by Air Canada’s new flights between the Canadian West Coast and Dubai, complementing the airline’s existing daily service between Dubai and Toronto.
Air Canada’s international onboard services are set to provide passengers with a unique culinary experience, featuring dishes created by a panel of celebrated Canadian chefs, including David Hawksworth and Vikram Vij from Vancouver, and Antonio Park and Jérôme Ferrer from Montreal. The airline’s wine selection, curated by leading Canadian sommelier Véronique Rivest, complements the gourmet offerings.
Passengers flying with Air Canada can collect and redeem points through Aeroplan, Canada’s leading loyalty program. Eligible customers also enjoy access to various premium services, including priority check-in, Maple Leaf Lounges, priority boarding, and Air Canada’s exclusive Signature Suite at YVR.
The flights between Vancouver and Dubai are operated using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring three cabins of service – Signature Class with lie-flat seats, Premium Economy, and Economy Class.
