Visit Malaysia 2020

Malaysia aims to welcome 30 million tourists in 2020

Tourism Malaysia recently launched the Visit Malaysia Year 2020 Campaign. Visit Malaysia 2020 brings out the best of what Malaysia has to offer to the world in a single, event-packed year.

The year 2020 holds a special place in the heart of all Malaysians as they reflect and celebrate all their successes and challenges in transforming a once colonial land, into a thriving, multi-cultural and dynamic country.

Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik said the Visit Malaysia Year 2020 Campaign was a national mission that must get the participation of every Malaysian citizen. “The government is confident that with the participation of the private sector, the target of 30 million tourists and tourism revenue of RM100 billion can be easily achieved,” he said at the launch of the Visit Malaysia 2020 Campaign in Penang on Oct. 12.

Muhammad Bakhtiar said that he was optimistic about achieving this target and hoped that industry players and private individuals would ensure that the services they offered were of high quality. “We must ensure that the services are top quality and include what tourists want, such as cleanliness and transportation, kindness, safety, and personal touch, which are important to tourists who will remember them and take back good memories of Malaysia,” he said.

While Malaysia has previously hosted four Visit Malaysia year since 1990, the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2020 will be held with a renewed vigor and passion. The focus on hornbill, batik, our national flower, and the multi-color theme reflect our desire to look deep within, appreciate what we have, and showcase it to the world with pride.
