Essential items to pack for travel in 2021

The new year means there’ll be plenty of opportunity for travel and visits to countries you may have missed out on seeing in 2020.

Whether you’re planning a road trip, a hiking adventure or a beach holiday, there are a few items every traveler should carry with them. If you prefer to travel alone, there are some extra considerations and items to pack for solo vacations. Beyond the essentials such as money, credit cards, passport, adapters and paperwork, here’s what you should pack for your trip in 2021.

Camera and camera bags

No matter where you’re going, don’t forget to pack a good camera, charging or battery accessories and a camera bag. Although smartphone cameras can take photos at very high resolution, you may prefer to bring your DSLR along. After all, when are you ever going to see all the wonders of your chosen destination again? Whatever camera you choose, take a waterproof bag to store and carry it in while you’re not snapping away. This way you’ll avoid accidental damage and loss of your precious snaps.

Antibacterial soap or sanitizer

Travel in 2021 is likely going to feel a little different compared to previous years. Especially when you’re back-packing or planning a road trip, it’s worth packing a good antibacterial bar soap, which you can find online at dialsoap.com. Alternatively, carry some antibacterial spray or gel with you.

Pack clothes for all weather conditions

Even if you know you’re flying into the sun, it’s worth carrying at least one sweater or cardigan. You’ll never know when conditions may change and temperatures could plummet. The nights tend to be colder in warmer climates as well so it’s best to be prepared.

Travel medications

You’ve already weighed up the many reasons for getting travel insurance, but don’t forget to pack a little travel pharmacy. This should include some tweezers, plasters, diarrhea medication, pain relief medication, and allergy relief where needed. There may also be some items you know you need to take with you. For example, if you tend to suffer from indigestion, it’s a good idea to pack some medication for it.

Don’t forget the sunglasses

Whether you’re heading for snow in the Alps or the never-ending sunsets of Egypt, don’t forget to pack your sunglasses. They’ll come in handy for all sorts of situations. A good pair of sunglasses should offer full UV protection. If you wear prescription glasses, you’ll need to get prescription sunglasses.
