Linnea Johansson

Celebrity chef names as the General Manager of Scandic’s smallest hotel

Linnea Johansson, by day a well-known chef and blogger in New York, will take on the role as General Manager of Scandic’s smallest hotel when the mobile hotel room visits the city at the end of September.

From September 23 to 28, a mini-version of Scandic’s new hotel, Scandic Haymarket, will open its doors at the North Food Festival.

As General Manager for the 18 m2 hotel room, Linnea will receive guests and take part in the activities surrounding the hotel. Scandic To Go will be set up at the North Food Festival, a culinary event dedicated to promoting Nordic Food to Americans.

“It’s going to be very exciting to be the General Manager for Scandic To Go when it comes to New York. The hotel will be unique in the city and it will be great to showcase the exotic North here in the US,” says Linnea Johansson.

Linnea will also participate in creative activities during the one-week festival. For example, she will hand out Swedish breakfasts to passers-by at Times Square.

“We put a lot of emphasis on breakfast in Sweden, especially when we stay at a hotel. It’s a part of the hotel experience. In the US, people don’t view it the same way. Here, the focus is on other things like the size of the bed, for example,” Linnea continues.

Linnea’s first day of work will be September 23 when the festival kicks off and the first guests arrive. Scandic To Go will be one of the most unique places to stay in New York during the week and guests who check in will be among the first to experience the design of Scandic’s big new hotel, Haymarket, which will open in the spring 2016.

”We are extremely happy that Linnea is our General Manager for Scandic To Go. What many people perhaps don’t know, is that in addition to being a chef, she has an education in hospitality management. She will create a lovely atmosphere and ambiance for guests at the hotel,” says Anna Wirén, Marketing Director at Scandic Sweden.
