The Qatar Cup semifinals’ ticket sales revenue will be donated to earthquake victims in Türkiye and Syria, the Qatar Stars League (QSL) confirmed today.
“The initiative comes from QSL’s keenness to play its role in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility and to contribute towards providing a helping hand to the victims and the affected,” the league said in a statement.
“Therefore, we invite all fans to participate in it by purchasing tickets and attending matches to support the initiative,” QSL added.
QSL expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims over the great loss.
Al Sadd will face Al Arabi at 1340GMT while Al Duhail will play against Al Wakrah at 1645GMT on Thursday as both semifinal clashes will take place at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
All sports activities in Türkiye have been suspended until further notice as the country observes a seven-day period of national mourning.
The Turkish Football Federation confirmed Tuesday that all of this week’s fixtures — between Feb. 7 and 12– have been postponed.
At least 7,108 people were killed and 40,910 others injured after two strong earthquakes on Monday jolted southern Türkiye, the country’s disaster agency said on Wednesday.
The magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes, centered in Kahramanmaras, struck 10 provinces and affected more than 13 million people.
