FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025

Historic Quad-Country Collaboration for FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025

In a historic move, the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025 will be co-hosted by four nations, marking the first time the event has seen such widespread collaboration.

FIBA Europe’s Executive Committee has approved the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, and Italy as the joint hosts for the upcoming 40th edition of this eminent basketball tournament.

While the precise hosting cities within these countries are yet to be disclosed, each will helm a segment of the Group Phase. The culmination of the event, the Final Phase, is set to unravel in Athens, Greece, where the tournament victors will be celebrated.

The co-hosting framework for the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket was introduced in 2015, with two nations sharing the responsibility. The trend started with Romania and Hungary, followed by Serbia and Latvia in 2019, and Spain and France in 2021. The latest edition was jointly organized by Slovenia and Israel.

For the 2025 qualifiers, 36 countries, inclusive of the four co-hosts, will contend for supremacy. An interesting twist to this edition is the grouping of the four co-hosts together in the qualifiers. The other 32 nations will be grouped into eight clusters, each containing four teams. These teams will vie for the remaining 12 slots in the Final Round.

Basketball enthusiasts should mark their calendars for September 19, when the draw for the Qualifiers is scheduled at the House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland. The first qualifier window will then open in November 2023.
