Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo might be facing a penalty of 99 lashes following his visit to Iran.
During his trip, Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, met with disabled artist Fatemeh Hamami and was gifted some of her artworks, an event that was shared on the club’s social media.
According to a report by NTV, Sportface suggests that this interaction could spell trouble for Ronaldo.
As per Iranian laws, touching a married woman is considered adultery, punishable by 99 lashes.
The report indicates that should Ronaldo return to Iran, the penalty might be enforced. However, if the Portuguese player expresses regret, the punishment might be pardoned.
