Flying to more countries than any other airline in the world, Turkish Airlines has introduced a convenient feature to its Self Bag Drop (SBD) devices, enabling passengers to complete the check-in process along with their baggage drop, marking a world-first in enhancing passenger convenience.
Emre Çevik, Manager of the Product & Service Management Department at Turkish Airlines, announced that passengers can now enjoy the added benefit of completing the check-in process directly at the SBD devices, a first in the world of air travel.
This significant enhancement is the result of a comprehensive project aimed at streamlining the airport experience for travelers. The pilot implementation of this new application has been successfully deployed at the Istanbul Airport, specifically at the Self Bag Drop device located at counter E-16.
This innovative move is expected to significantly reduce wait times, alleviate congestion at check-in counters, and provide a more seamless and efficient airport experience.
Emre Çevik highlighted the airline’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance customer service. “As a world first, we are proud to offer the ability to perform both the check-in and bag drop processes via our self-service devices. This initiative is a testament to our long-standing commitment to improving the passenger experience through innovation,” Çevik stated.
The introduction of the check-in feature on the Self Bag Drop devices marks a significant milestone in Turkish Airlines’ ongoing efforts to integrate digital solutions into its service offerings. Following a short observation period to ensure the system’s efficiency and user-friendliness, Turkish Airlines plans to expand this service to all Self Bag Drop devices across its network.
The implementation of this new feature aligns with Turkish Airlines’ strategic vision to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. By reducing the need for passengers to interact with staff for check-in, the airline not only streamlines the travel process but also advances its commitment to health and safety, particularly important in the current global context.
Passengers flying from Istanbul Airport can now look forward to a more convenient airport experience, with the promise of this technology being rolled out more widely soon. Turkish Airlines continues to lead by example, demonstrating how innovation and technology can be harnessed to improve the passenger journey from start to finish.
In addition to the self-service check-in and bag drop features, Turkish Airlines is elevating passenger convenience at Istanbul Airport through another innovative service. The airline has introduced Smartmic translation devices, providing instant translation in 51 languages. This service is particularly beneficial at critical contact points, such as the transfer desk, significantly reducing communication barriers and enhancing the overall travel experience for international passengers. This initiative underscores Turkish Airlines’ commitment to leveraging technology for improving passenger convenience and satisfaction.
These latest developments are expected to further cement Turkish Airlines’ reputation as a customer-centric airline, constantly seeking ways to enhance the travel experience through technological advancements and innovative service solutions.
