The World’s Leading Travel Trade Show, ITB Berlin 2024, is set to dazzle attendees with an official opening ceremony on March 4th, featuring a fusion of classical and folk music presented by the Official Host Country, Oman.
This cultural extravaganza will showcase Oman’s rich heritage and modern advancements, promising a memorable evening for guests.
Under the theme ‘Beauty Has An Address,’ Oman will captivate the audience at CityCube Berlin with a vibrant display led by H.E. Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman. The event, beginning at 6 p.m. on the eve of the trade show, will offer a glimpse into the country’s diverse landscapes and traditions to some 3,000 invited guests, including key figures from politics and the tourism industry.
Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner and Federal Government’s Coordinator for Maritime Economy and Tourism Dieter Janecek will extend a warm welcome to Oman and attendees.
The travel sector’s presence will be bolstered by Julia Simpson, WTTC President and CEO, and Zurab Pololikashvili, UN Tourism Secretary-General, alongside Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin.
The ceremony will unfold in three segments, beginning with an exploration of Oman’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. The subsequent part will delve into the nation’s progression, highlighting modernization efforts while preserving cultural identity, religion, education, human rights, and arts. The finale, ‘Vision 2040,’ will outline Oman’s sustainable tourism initiatives and global aspirations.
Accompanied by the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra, Omani artists will enrich the evening with traditional and international musical performances. This marks the orchestra’s first visit to Germany in 17 years, underlining its unique position as a western-oriented ensemble with solely Omani musicians.
Following the ceremony, guests will be treated to Omani culinary specialties at a reception in CityCube Berlin, rounding off the night with a taste of the host country’s gastronomic offerings.
ITB Berlin 2024 will take place from Tuesday, 5 to Thursday, 7 March. Since 1966, ITB Berlin has been the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show. As in previous years, the internationally acclaimed ITB Berlin Convention will take place parallel with the show as a live event on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Under the heading „Pioneer the Transition in Travel & Tourism. Together.“, leading speakers from business, science and politics will discuss the industry’s current and future challenges on 4 stages with a total of 17 themed tracks and more than 24,000 attendees.
