New Touristic Tatvan Train Starts Service: Discover Scenic Turkey by Train

One of the two new touristic train routes in Turkiye announced earlier, the Touristic Tatvan Train, will start service after the Eid al-Adha holiday.

The train will depart from Ankara on June 24 at 14:30 with 140 passengers and from Tatvan on June 26 at 19:00, completing the journey in 28 hours.

Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said that the new train will serve the tourism sector, in addition to meeting travel needs. Following the success of the Touristic Eastern Express and the Touristic Diyarbakır Express, the Touristic Tatvan Train is the latest addition to Turkey’s scenic train routes.

The train offers a blend of nostalgia and comfort with its sleeper carriages, each equipped with a refrigerator and sink, accommodating two passengers per room. Passengers can also enjoy meals in dining cars while admiring the Anatolian landscape.

During its journey from Ankara to Tatvan, the train will make a three-hour stop in Elazığ for tourism purposes. Passengers will have the opportunity to explore the cultural and historical heritage of Elazığ.

Enhancing Tourism and Local Economies

Uraloğlu emphasized that the trains operated by TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ, including the Touristic Eastern Express and the Touristic Erzurum Kars Regional Train, have allowed thousands of passengers to create beautiful memories. These trains serve as tourism ambassadors, offering alternative travel experiences while boosting the local economies of the regions they pass through.

The Touristic Tatvan Train, like the Touristic Diyarbakır Express, will contribute to the economic, social, and cultural life of many cities along its route. Passengers will have the chance to see historical and cultural treasures as well as natural wonders. See the most popular train routes in Turkey.
