Cáceres to Host TURESPAÑA’s Prestigious 2025 Convention

The Spanish city of Cáceres has been selected as the host for the V TURESPAÑA Convention in 2025, a decision that highlights the growing recognition of inland and nature-based destinations within Spain’s tourism sector.

This prestigious event, organized by the Instituto de Turismo de España (TURESPAÑA), will gather key stakeholders from across the tourism industry to discuss strategic objectives, market intelligence, and collaborative marketing initiatives aimed at boosting Spain’s international tourism profile.

A Landmark Decision for Cáceres

This marks the first time that an inland destination will host the TURESPAÑA Convention, with previous editions being held in more traditional tourist hubs such as Seville, Barcelona, Donostia-San Sebastián, and Tenerife.

The decision to choose Cáceres aligns with TURESPAÑA’s Strategic Marketing Plan, which emphasizes the importance of promoting diverse and lesser-known destinations throughout Spain.

Mark Ezell, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, praised the collaborative efforts that led to this success. “Tennessee tourism is soaring, leading to benefits for Tennesseans. Thanks to our destination marketing organizations across the state, in addition to our leisure and hospitality businesses, this amazing accomplishment was made possible. The record growth is a testament to the strength, resilience, determination, and efforts of our people and the work of our industry in bringing visitors to enjoy why Tennessee Sounds Perfect,” he said.

Enhancing Public-Private Collaboration

The TURESPAÑA Convention serves as a critical forum for the exchange of ideas and strategies between public and private sectors within Spain’s tourism industry. It offers a unique opportunity for regional and national tourism bodies to collaborate on international marketing efforts, ensuring that Spain remains a competitive and appealing destination on the global stage.

One of the convention’s primary goals is to strengthen governance and foster closer collaboration between public and private tourism entities. By bringing together TURESPAÑA’s tourism offices with Spanish tourist destinations and private sector players, the event aims to share best practices, align marketing strategies, and explore new trends that can be incorporated into Spain’s broader tourism initiatives.

Isabel Oliver, Secretary of State for Tourism, emphasized the importance of such collaboration, stating, “Events like the TURESPAÑA Convention are crucial for maintaining the strong relationships between our public institutions and private businesses. Together, we can continue to innovate and adapt to the evolving demands of international travelers.”

Cáceres: A Destination Rich in History and Culture

Cáceres, a city in western Spain’s Extremadura region, known for its rich historical heritage and beautiful natural surroundings, is an ideal setting for the 2025 convention. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture, which offers a unique blend of cultural and natural attractions.

The selection of Cáceres not only underscores the city’s growing prominence as a tourist destination but also supports TURESPAÑA’s objective of promoting inland tourism. This move is expected to bring greater visibility to Cáceres, showcasing its potential as a year-round destination for both domestic and international visitors.

Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Minister of Interior, expressed his excitement about the selection, noting, “Cáceres provides a perfect backdrop for discussing the future of tourism in Spain. Its rich cultural landscape and commitment to sustainable tourism make it a fitting choice for this important event.”

In the coming weeks, TURESPAÑA and the Junta de Extremadura are set to formalize their collaboration through an official agreement, which will outline the roles and responsibilities in organizing the 2025 convention. The themes and detailed agenda of the event will be announced during the closing session of the 2024 TURESPAÑA Convention in Tenerife.

The convention is expected to attract a wide range of participants, including representatives from tourism boards, local governments, chambers of commerce, and major tourism businesses. This gathering will provide an invaluable platform for networking, sharing insights, and shaping the future direction of Spain’s tourism marketing and development strategies.

By choosing Cáceres as the host city, TURESPAÑA is taking a significant step toward diversifying Spain’s tourism offerings and highlighting the unique attractions of its inland regions. As the preparations for the 2025 convention get underway, all eyes will be on Cáceres to see how this historic city can inspire new ideas and strategies for the future of tourism in Spain.
