New Direct Routes: Vietnam Airlines Adds Munich to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam Airlines has added Munich to its route network, connecting Bavaria’s largest airport to two key cities in Vietnam: Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The airline now operates flights to Hanoi on Mondays and Saturdays and to Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesdays.

This new service is operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring a three-class configuration: Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class.

Starting in December 2024, the airline will increase the frequency of its Munich–Ho Chi Minh City route to twice weekly, adding flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The new direct flights position Munich Airport as Vietnam Airlines’ fourth European destination, alongside Frankfurt, London Heathrow, and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

“We are delighted about the new flights by Vietnam Airlines from Munich Airport. The connections are a significant expansion of our Asia services and strengthen Munich Airport’s position as one of the leading aviation hubs in Europe. We are confident that these new direct flights will further enhance economic ties and cultural exchange between Bavaria and Vietnam,” said Jost Lammers, CEO of  Munich Airport, on the occasion of the first flight.

Vietnam has become one of the most popular holiday destinations in Southeast Asia and is now one of the most visited countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Bavarian companies have made substantial investments in Vietnam. In addition, there are numerous relationships in the field of science and education.
