Royal Caribbean Group has secured an extension of its partnership with Port Everglades through September 30, 2030.
The renewed Passenger Terminal and Berth User Agreement, approved by the Broward County Board of Commissioners, also includes an option for an additional five-year term.
Plans are underway to explore upgrades to Cruise Terminal 29 to accommodate the company’s growing fleet.
“I thank the County Commissioners for helping us move forward on our commitment to attract and retain customers like Royal Caribbean Group that provide a substantial lift to our local economy,” said Joseph Morris, CEO and Port Director of Port Everglades.
This agreement is expected to boost the local economy, generating $581.9 million in annual business revenue by 2027-2030.
The port will welcome at least 1.3 million guests annually and 355 vessel calls each year. It would support 4,095 jobs in the region annually, including 1,829 direct local jobs, 1,221 indirect jobs and 1,046 induced jobs.
Royal Caribbean Group, which owns Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea, operates all three cruise lines from Port Everglades. With its prime location in South Florida, the port remains a hub for Caribbean and global cruises, enhancing its reputation as one of the world’s busiest cruise ports.
Port Everglades benefits from proximity to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, making it a convenient choice for pre- and post-cruise stays. Visitors can enjoy nearby beaches, shopping, dining, and family-friendly activities in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area, contributing to the vibrant local tourism scene.
