ITA Airways, the Italian reference carrier, and Icelandair, the Icelandic flag carrier, have signed a codeshare agreement to connect their networks.
The signing ceremony took place at ITA Airways’ headquarters in Rome Fiumicino, in the presence of Andrea Benassi, General Manager ITA Airways; Cesare Autera, VP Alliances and Partnerships ITA Airways; Tomas Ingason, Chief Commercial Officer Icelandair; and Helgi Mar Bjorgvinsson, VP Partnerships & Corporate Affairs Icelandair.
This new commercial agreement will allow customers to seamlessly travel across the two airlines’ networks, opening new travel possibilities. The flights are available for sale, with travel starting on January 20, 2025.
Andrea Benassi, General Manager ITA Airways, said: “We are pleased to sign this codeshare partnership with Icelandair. This agreement further enhances ITA Airways’ commercial strategy of growth and opens a privileged access route to all passengers who will benefit from the connectivity via Rome Fiumicino and Reykjavik. This agreement marks the Company’s 37th codeshare partnership, an excellent result we have achieved in just over three years”.

ITA Airways has an extensive route network and offers excellent customer experience. The agreement will enhance connectivity between Rome and Reykjavík, by opening connections to ITA Airways’ extensive domestic network, including Catania, Palermo, Naples, Bologna, Florence, Bari, Genoa, Trieste, Lamezia Terme, Venice, and Turin. Icelandair and ITA will further expand the partnership and add codeshare via many of the airlines’ mutual European gateways.
Thanks to the codeshare agreement ITA Airways and Icelandair customers can travel on a single ticket and have their luggage checked through all the way to the final destination. Icelandair has daily flights to Milan and Rome in the summer season and, to further complement the new partnership, the Company has announced increased wintertime frequency to Rome, flying four times weekly.
