Meliá Hotels International will take over management of the six MiM Hotels owned by footballer Leo Messi starting November 1, under an agreement that integrates the properties into the company’s luxury brand, The Meliá Collection.
The deal, announced by both groups, places the MiM Hotels portfolio within a curated collection of independent high-end properties operated by Meliá on a lease basis.
The partnership marks a major step in Meliá’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the boutique and luxury hotel segment. The MiM properties—located in destinations such as Ibiza, Sitges, Mallorca, Andorra, Baqueira Beret, and Sotogrande—will retain their distinctive design and identity while benefiting from Meliá’s international marketing, reservation, and loyalty systems.
Integration into The Meliá Collection
The six MiM Hotels will become part of The Meliá Collection, a portfolio of 26 hotels across more than 12 countries. The brand unites independent luxury properties under Meliá’s management standards while allowing each hotel to maintain its unique character. The inclusion of the MiM Hotels, operated under a rental model, reflects the company’s focus on expanding its upper-upscale and luxury offerings in key leisure destinations.
Meliá highlighted that the MiM brand “represents a consolidation of the company’s commitment to the high-end hospitality sector,” offering exclusive experiences that reflect Messi’s personal style and attention to detail. Among the distinguishing features are the “Suite Messi” and displays such as a replica of the Ballon d’Or trophy signed by the footballer himself.
“The strength of this new alliance lies in the complementarity of the MiM and The Meliá Collection portfolios,” said Gabriel Escarrer, President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International. “They share a common philosophy and value proposition for the most demanding travelers, supported by a global icon such as Leo Messi and by a leading hotel management group like Meliá.”
Design, Sustainability, and Wellness Focus
Each MiM hotel combines contemporary architecture and design with a strong focus on sustainability and wellness. Interiors were created by well-known designers including Luis Bustamante and Lázaro Rosa-Violán. The properties emphasize relaxation and health-focused experiences, featuring personalized wellness treatments and curated environments that promote holistic well-being.
The MiM portfolio also highlights gastronomy as a key component of its guest experience. Three of the hotels—located in Baqueira, Andorra, and Sotogrande—feature menus crafted by chef Nandu Jubany, combining Mediterranean flavors with innovative techniques. Other properties in the collection, such as MiM Mallorca, MiM Sitges, and MiM Ibiza, cater primarily to adults, while those in Andorra, Sotogrande, and Baqueira Beret offer family-oriented options and facilities for small meetings or group events.
All MiM properties hold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, granted by the U.S. Green Building Council. The certification recognizes buildings that meet international standards for energy efficiency, water conservation, and environmental responsibility, underscoring MiM’s commitment to sustainable tourism.
Meliá said that integrating the MiM hotels into The Meliá Collection would allow them to retain their distinctive style while gaining international visibility and access to Meliá’s global distribution network. The agreement will also align the MiM Hotels brand with Meliá’s customer loyalty programs and global marketing channels, increasing its reach among high-value travelers worldwide.
The alliance further expands The Meliá Collection’s footprint in Europe’s leading leisure and mountain destinations. It also strengthens Meliá’s position in the competitive luxury lifestyle segment, where personalized experiences and local authenticity are increasingly shaping traveler preferences.
Founded by Leo Messi and managed by his family, MiM Hotels has developed a reputation for blending elegant design, sustainability, and a sense of place across its boutique properties. The collaboration with Meliá brings the brand into one of the world’s largest Spanish hospitality networks, combining global management expertise with the distinctive appeal of Messi’s personal brand.
For Meliá Hotels International, headquartered in Palma de Mallorca, the addition of MiM Hotels comes as part of a broader strategy to consolidate its presence in the premium and luxury segments through asset-light models. The company continues to expand its global footprint with new openings and partnerships under brands such as Gran Meliá, ME by Meliá, and The Meliá Collection.
