Hilton has announced plans to open two new hotels in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, before the end of 2025 under a partnership with Wirgan Hospitality.
The move will see the introduction of the first Tapestry Collection by Hilton in the Holy City and a new DoubleTree by Hilton in the Aziziyah district, expanding the company’s presence in one of the world’s most significant pilgrimage destinations.
The signings were unveiled during the World Travel Market in London and mark a significant milestone for Hilton’s growth in Saudi Arabia. With the addition of these properties, Hilton’s trading presence in Makkah will nearly double by room count to more than 4,100 keys. The company currently operates 21 hotels across the Kingdom, with another 83 in the pipeline, underscoring its continued investment in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 tourism objectives.
New Openings Strengthen Hilton’s Makkah Portfolio
The two new hotels, Wirgan Al Noor, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and DoubleTree by Hilton Makkah Aziziyah, will be rebranded from existing Wirgan Hospitality properties. Both are scheduled to open later this year following refurbishment and integration into Hilton’s global network. The additions will enhance accommodation options for millions of visitors who travel to Makkah annually for Hajj and Umrah.
“We recently surpassed the milestone of 100 hotels trading and in the pipeline in Saudi Arabia – and we are thrilled to build on this momentum with the signing of these two properties,” said Carlos Khneisser, Chief Development Officer, Hilton, Middle East and Africa. “As we continue to expand our footprint in the Kingdom, we remain committed to diversifying our portfolio to meet the needs of every traveller.”
The collaboration with Wirgan Hospitality also introduces a new brand segment to the local market. “Our partnership with Wirgan Hospitality is testament to this as we introduce our Tapestry Collection brand to the Holy City and bolster our presence with the introduction of DoubleTree by Hilton to the Aziziyah district of Makkah – enhancing Hilton’s hospitality offering in a key global destination,” Khneisser added.
Wirgan Al Noor, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
Located near Jabal Al Noor, one of Islam’s most sacred sites, Wirgan Al Noor, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, will feature 1,386 guestrooms. The hotel will offer convenient access to major landmarks including the Zamzam Well and Al-Zaher Palace Museum. Positioned on elevated terrain, it will also provide panoramic views of the Holy City.
Each Tapestry Collection property is individually designed to reflect local character, and the Wirgan Al Noor hotel will incorporate elements inspired by Saudi heritage and the surrounding landscape. Facilities will include two ballrooms totaling more than 1,100 square meters, eight meeting rooms, multiple dining venues, a fitness centre, kids club, and shuttle services to the Haram. The hotel’s design draws inspiration from Mount Wirgan in Madinah and will integrate locally inspired art and décor.
DoubleTree by Hilton Makkah Aziziyah
The second property, DoubleTree by Hilton Makkah Aziziyah, will add 381 guest rooms and suites in the heart of the city’s Aziziyah district. The hotel will cater primarily to religious visitors, offering regular shuttle services to the Haram and easy access to nearby pilgrimage landmarks including Mina and Jamarat.
The property will feature the DoubleTree brand’s hallmark hospitality, beginning with its signature warm chocolate chip cookie welcome. Other amenities will include multiple dining options, a business centre, and a kids club. The opening will extend Hilton’s midscale offering in Makkah, complementing the brand’s existing luxury and full-service hotels across Saudi Arabia.
“We are proud to partner with Hilton to support the future growth of the two exceptional properties we have developed in Makkah,” said Omar Al Harbi, CEO of Wirgan Hospitality. “As one of the most significant destinations in the Kingdom, Makkah holds deep religious, cultural and spiritual importance. These openings reflect our ongoing commitment to elevate the hospitality offering in Makkah and the Kingdom in line with Vision 2030.”
Supporting Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Vision 2030
The dual openings align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which prioritizes expanding tourism infrastructure and increasing visitor capacity in key destinations such as Makkah. The city is one of the most visited locations in the world, with millions of Muslim pilgrims arriving annually. The addition of new branded hotels aims to enhance guest experiences and strengthen Makkah’s hospitality standards in line with global benchmarks.
Hilton’s continued expansion reflects the growing competitiveness of Saudi Arabia’s hospitality market, which has seen a surge in development activity in preparation for future visitor demand. The company’s partnership with Wirgan Hospitality demonstrates its long-term confidence in the Kingdom’s tourism growth and its goal of positioning Makkah as a world-class religious travel hub.
Both properties are expected to open before the end of 2025 and will operate under Hilton’s global management systems, offering digital connectivity, loyalty program integration, and brand-standard service delivery.
