Domestic searches point beyond gateway cities

On the domestic side, the list stretches well beyond major gateway cities. California and Florida each place multiple destinations in the ranking, while the inclusion of Asheville and Missoula reflects continued appetite for scenic and outdoor travel, a trend that gained momentum following the pandemic.

  2. Sarasota
  3. Asheville
  4. Dallas-Fort Worth
  5. Fort Myers
  6. Panama City Beach

Search trends as an early demand signal

Google notes that the data captures search activity rather than confirmed travel. The company says search trends frequently serve as an early indicator of demand, particularly during peak periods such as the summer season.
