Air Europa adds 3 weekly Madrid-San Salvador flights from December

Air Europa has announced it will add El Salvador to its network of destinations from 17 December, launching a regular route between Madrid and San Salvador three times a week.

The airline said the service will operate from Madrid on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, expanding its long-haul Latin America schedule and giving travellers a new direct option to Central America.

The move strengthens Air Europa’s presence in the region and comes as carriers continue to look for growth in transatlantic travel. The new route is expected to appeal to both leisure passengers and the Salvadoran diaspora travelling between Spain and El Salvador.

Air Europa has not said in the information provided what aircraft will be used on the route, or whether introductory fares will be offered. It is also not clear from the announcement how the new service fits into wider changes to the airline’s winter programme.

The addition of San Salvador marks another step in the carrier’s expansion across Latin America, where it already serves multiple destinations from its Madrid hub. For travellers, the route offers a more direct link between Spain and El Salvador without the need for connecting flights through other European or US airports.

Airline capacity between Europe and Central America has become more competitive in recent years as airlines seek to tap demand from business, visiting-friends-and-relatives and holiday markets. Regular frequencies also tend to make trips more convenient for onward connections and return travel planning.

For El Salvador, the new service could support tourism and business links with Spain, which remain important for the country’s international connectivity. For Air Europa, the route adds another destination to a long-haul network built around Madrid-Barajas airport.

The company said the flights will run three times a week, giving passengers a fixed schedule on the new route. Further operational details, including the timetable and booking availability, were not included in the announcement provided.
