IHG Signs Four New Hotels in Italy, Hits 50 Property Milestone

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has signed four new hotels in Italy, taking its Italian portfolio to over 50 open and pipeline properties. The signings span Milan, Turin and the Apulia region.

The deals include a new dual branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites hotel in Milan, the first Staybridge Suites property in Italy, along with Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello and Garner Hotel Turin Porta Nuova. The announcement was made on 25 June 2026.

The signings underline IHG’s continued expansion across multiple brands and segments in the Italian market, with a focus on conversion opportunities and partnerships with experienced local owners and operators.

“Reaching this milestone of over 50 open and pipeline hotels reflects the incredible momentum we have in Italy and the growing confidence owners have in our brands and enterprise,” said Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

“Italy is one of Europe’s most dynamic hospitality markets, and we see significant opportunity to continue scaling across both key cities and high quality leisure destinations,” she said. “We’re really proud of the partnerships we’ve built with experienced Italian owners and operators, and we’re only getting started.”

The dual branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites hotel will be located in Milan’s fast growing NoLo district. The project involves converting and rebranding an existing hotel into a combined upper upscale and extended stay offering, comprising 167 Crowne Plaza rooms and 96 Staybridge Suites apartments.

Both hotels are owned by Reinvest and are scheduled to open in January 2027. The dual brand property will feature multiple restaurants and bars, a pool, fitness facilities and 8 meeting rooms spanning 1,000 square metres.

The hotel sits 500 metres from Turro metro station on the M1 line and is 8 stops from Milan’s Duomo. It is also 3 kilometres from Milan Central Station and 20 minutes from Linate Airport, offering strong connectivity for both business and leisure travellers.

In Apulia, IHG has signed Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello, marking the brand’s first property in the region and a step forward for IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle presence in Southern Italy. The 129 key newbuild hotel is owned by AG Group and is scheduled to open in 2028.

The hotel will be located near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Alberobello and within driving distance of Bari and Brindisi airports. It will draw inspiration from local neighbourhood and cultural heritage, in line with the Hotel Indigo brand, and will include a spa, gym and congress centre.

In Turin, IHG will introduce its Garner brand through the conversion of a centrally located 57 room hotel, marking its second Garner signing in Italy. The property is set within a historic building directly opposite Torino Porta Nuova railway station.

The hotel is scheduled to open in mid 2027 under a franchise agreement with Gruppo Stay, IHG’s first partnership with the Italian hotel group. The project will support the continued expansion of IHG’s midscale conversion brand across Southern Europe.

IHG currently operates 32 open hotels in Italy across 8 brands, including Six Senses, InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, voco, Crowne Plaza, Garner, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, with an additional 20 properties in the development pipeline.

The new signings follow other recent milestones in the country, including the signing of IHG’s first Kimpton property in Taormina, Sicily, and the recent opening of the first Garner hotel in Italy, Garner Hotel Rome Aurelia.
