Intelier Hotels & Suites is preparing to open its first hotel in Valencia this July, bringing a 170-room property to the Malvarrosa district and creating more than 100 direct and indirect jobs.
The Intelier Malvarrosa Plaza is a 4 star superior hotel located at Avenida de la Malvarrosa 15-17, a few streets from Malvarrosa beach. The property is part of Nealis Hospitality, the family owned group formerly known as Grupo Gimeno, which operates the Intelier brand.
Availability on the hotel’s own booking system indicates rooms can be reserved from 17 July, with no availability shown for the night of 18 July, before bookings resume from 19 July onwards. Intelier has not issued an official statement confirming an opening date, but the booking pattern suggests the hotel may open its doors around the middle of the month, possibly with a closed night for a private or staff event before welcoming the public from 19 July. The company has also launched an opening offer for guests, including a welcome drink and a best price guarantee.
The company says the project is designed to support the local economy, prioritise hiring people from the neighbourhood and nearby areas, and build a long term relationship with the community. Recruitment will cover roles including reception, guest services, food and beverage, and maintenance.
Intelier says it has worked with local artisans and businesses during construction, and that these suppliers will help shape the identity of the property. The company says the hotel will reflect the area’s creative and productive character through its materials, products and staff.
The interior design was developed by Proyecto Singular, which has built a contemporary reinterpretation of Valencian identity using local materials, natural textures and references to the surrounding maritime environment. The architectural project is by Morph Studio, whose design draws on the fluidity of the sea and is intended to contribute to the urban regeneration of the surrounding area.
The building places particular emphasis on its rooftop, which features a swimming pool with sea views. Intelier describes the space as one of the project’s defining features, allowing guests to swim or relax with a view over the Mediterranean.
The hotel has also been built to advanced sustainability standards, holding DGNB Gold and BREEAM Exceptional certifications for its construction. Intelier says sustainability, integration with the surrounding area and cooperation with local producers were among the core criteria behind the project.
Chef Ricard Camarena has been announced as the designer and manager of the hotel’s food and drink concept. The offer will span breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and cocktails, and will be open to hotel guests and the wider public, with the aim of turning the hotel’s dining spaces into a gastronomic meeting point for the neighbourhood.
Intelier aims to serve both overnight guests and local residents who want to use the hotel’s facilities without staying there.
“Desde Intelier compartimos la convicción de que un hotel que abre en un distrito con la identidad y la historia de Poblats Marítims tiene una responsabilidad especial,” said Intelier Hotels & Suites. The statement added that opening in the area meant more than offering accommodation, and required arriving with respect, contributing concretely and being willing to learn from the neighbourhood and its history.
The Valencia launch adds to a wider expansion drive by Nealis Hospitality. The group has operated hotels since 1963, when it opened its first property, and now manages 12 hotels across six autonomous communities.
Beyond Valencia, Intelier is also developing the Core Suites Azor aparthotel in Benicassim, Castellon, on the site of the former Intelier Azor. That property will offer 110 suites aimed at families and sports tourism, with a gym, restaurant, bike centre, hypoxia rooms and a terrace overlooking the bay, and is due to reopen under the Intelier brand later this year.
The group is also planning further growth in Andalusia. From 2028, it intends to operate a 72 room hotel in Malaga under its Select category, located in a historic building near Calle Marques de Larios. In the same year, Nealis plans to open the Intelier Grand Select Cordoba, a five star property in the historic Casa de los Guzmanes, marking the company’s move into the five star segment.
With 170 rooms, a rooftop pool, a beachfront location, a dining concept from a well known chef and a promise of more than 100 jobs, Intelier Malvarrosa Plaza is set to become one of the more notable hotel openings in Valencia this summer.
