OYO Thailand Offers Free Rooms to Healthcare Practitioners

OYO will offer free rooms at two of its partner hotels for the entire duration of the state of emergency to healthcare practitioners treating Covid-19 cases in Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand.

Properties in Bangkok and Pattaya were identified because of the large number of cases being treated at these hospitals.

From today until 30 April 2020, healthcare practitioners from public hospitals in Bangkok and Pattaya treating Covid-19 cases can access free rooms

at the following hotels OYO 419 Maleewan Jomtien Pattaya Moo 12, 279/135, Liap Chai Had Road, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150, Thailand

Na Banglampoo Hotel Bangkok 131 Phra Sumen Road, Chana Songkhram, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand

Healthcare practitioners from these hospitals can book rooms by contacting the OYO Careline on +66- 81 646 3936 between 9am and 7pm every day. Proof of employment in the form of staff IDs is required at check-in.

OYO’s offer is in response to many requests on social media and elsewhere from NGOs and healthcare practitioners for rooms, apartments and homes within a short radius of hospitals treating Covid-19 patients in these cities.

Guruprasad Sankaranarayanan (Guru), Country Head at OYO Thailand said as a provider of essential services and key stakeholder in the tourism and travel industry, OYO has an added responsibility to ensure those who are in need of clean affordable living spaces have access to them.

“Our healthcare practitioners, especially those in the frontlines are working tirelessly round-the-clock to care for patients with Covid-19. While they care for others, OYO and our partners want to care for them. In that spirit, we went to our partners and asked them to support us in doing our part for Thailand during these unprecedented times, and everyone said yes. These are the kind of caring souls we have as partners and I would like to thank them for responding to our call so quickly.”

“Our healthcare practitioners have been subject to gruelling hours as a result of this pandemic. We hope that by offering clean living spaces near hospitals, travel time can be reduced, especially after a gruelling shift. The safety and wellbeing of our healthcare practitioners while travelling to and from hospitals is just as important and OYO wanted to do our part to ensure that.”

“We continue to receive requests from our hotel partners in other provinces and cities wanting to be included in the list of hotels offering free rooms to medical practitioners attending to COVID-19 patients in Thailand. The list will be updated regularly and I urge all those from the medical profession who would like to these rooms to call our OYO Careline for an updated list of hotels within the vicinity of their hospitals”.

“Our effort reflects the organisation’s culture and values, which we hope, would spur others in Thailand to do their part during this challenging and uncertain time. Now is also a good time for the entire industry to put aside everything that separates us and come together in solidarity to support the country in its time of need”, concluded Guru. In addition to providing complimentary rooms to healthcare practitioners, OYO is also in discussions with the government to convert its partner properties into quarantine centers and extended field hospitals. More details on this initiative will be announced later.

OYO will also continue to accept reservations and check-ins from allguestsduring the entire period of the state of emergency in Thailand. OYO is also offering special long stay rates for foreign guests who are stranded following the travel restrictions and need a clean and affordable living space during this period. These long stay rates also apply to guests who want to practice self-quarantine at this time. The rates offered by OYO only cover the room rate as all other services and facilities at the hotel will remain shut during this time. Only in-room dining is permitted at hotels with F&B outlets.

OYO practices the strictest WHO-certified hygiene standards at its rooms and hotels at all times. All rooms are sanitised before check-in and after check-out.
