In a significant move towards sustainable transportation, PowerGo has announced its partnership with Radisson Hotel Group, an international hotel chain with over 1,150 hotels in operation and under development.
The collaboration aims to provide charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs) at approximately 300 hotels across European countries in the coming years. This initiative is part of Radisson Hotel Group’s Green Mobility Mindset, aligning with their commitment to becoming net-zero by 2050.
Radisson Hotel Group, a global leader in sustainability, recognizes the importance of offering guests sustainable transportation options. As the demand for EVs continues to rise, with the European Commission’s mandate for all new registered cars and vans to be zero-emission by 2035, Radisson’s partnership with PowerGo perfectly complements their sustainability goals and the growing popularity of EVs. With intermediary steps towards zero-emissions by 2030, the consumer demand for electric vehicles is projected to quadruple by 2025, making EVs the dominant powertrain in the next decade.
The partnership between PowerGo and Radisson Hotel Group plays a crucial role in the rollout of the pan-European charging network. Hotels have the option to invest or collaborate with PowerGo as a Charge Point Operator (CPO), who will manage and operate the charging infrastructure using the EV platform of partner Spirii. The collaboration offers an advantageous financial model for hotel owners, ensuring no cost or risk to individual Radisson Hotel Group properties. Additionally, the PowerGo Charge app will provide users with easy access to charging and payment options, offering guests full flexibility in payment methods.
The first phase of the partnership has already commenced, with the installation of eight charging stations at Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel in Oslo. These charging stations will be available for use by both hotel guests and visitors, promoting accessibility to sustainable charging solutions for all electric car drivers. PowerGo is committed to providing clean and renewable energy at every location. The company tailors the charging infrastructure to each specific hotel’s needs, determining whether AC chargers, fast chargers, or a combination of both are most suitable.
Ivo van Dam, Chief Technology Officer at PowerGo, expressed the company’s dedication to offering competitive charging solutions. He stated, “Accessibility to sustainable charging solutions for every electric car driver is a top priority for PowerGo. We offer each hotel owner an advantageous financial model, together with completely clean and renewable energy. This is an important factor when comparing PowerGo’s solutions with those of its competitors. We are extremely pleased to work with Radisson Hotel Group and look forward to the wider rollout of our partnership.”
Recognizing the growing preference for sustainable travel options, Radisson Hotel Group aims to enhance the guest experience by incorporating e-mobility as an essential part of their services. Inge Huijbrechts, Global SVP Sustainability, Security, and Corporate Communications at Radisson Hotel Group, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, saying, “Over 70% of clients indicate they want to choose sustainable travel options. E-mobility is becoming an essential part of the guest experience. At Radisson Hotel Group, we recognize this trend and want to be at the forefront of promoting a green mobility mindset by making responsible stays easier. The cooperation with PowerGo will help us go beyond the 700+ EV chargers currently installed in our hotels and reach our aim to equip all eligible hotels in Europe and beyond with EV charging facilities by 2025.”
The partnership between PowerGo and Radisson Hotel Group represents a significant step forward in promoting sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions. By expanding the availability of EV charging infrastructure across European hotels, the collaboration contributes to the growth of the EV market and facilitates the transition to a greener future. With their shared commitment to sustainability, PowerGo and Radisson Hotel Group are well-positioned to make a positive impact on the global hospitality industry and inspire other organizations to adopt similar green mobility initiatives.
