Arora Group, one of the UK’s leading hotel owner-operators, has announced the signing of an agreement to redevelop Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa under the globally renowned Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand.
This milestone comes after Arora Group’s acquisition of Luton Hoo Hotel in December 2021 and showcases the growing partnership between Arora Group and Accor, the world-leading hospitality group that includes Fairmont Hotels & Resorts among its expansive collection of brands.
Luton Hoo Hotel will now join the prestigious lineup of Fairmont properties across the UK and Ireland, including The Savoy, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, in London; Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland; Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, in Ireland; and the Arora-owned Fairmont Windsor Park near historic Windsor. With over 90 destinations worldwide, Fairmont is renowned for its grand and awe-inspiring properties, many of which are steeped in rich history and hold a special place in their local communities.
Before donning the Fairmont flag, Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa will undergo a multi-million-pound redevelopment over the next few years, elevating the hotel to new levels of luxury that will be unparalleled in the area. The estate, which dates back to 1601, covers 1,100 acres of pristine land on the border of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. Behind the magnificent and historic facade of the Mansion House, guests will find a 5-star country house hotel offering exceptional facilities and delivering luxurious yet relaxed service.
The hotel’s excellent transport links, situated between St. Pancras and Luton Parkway railway stations, make it easily accessible from London or Cambridge. As one of the most conveniently located hotels near Luton Airport, it is a preferred destination for domestic and international travelers alike.
Sébastien Bazin, Chairman & CEO of Accor, expressed excitement about the partnership, saying, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner again with Arora Group, building upon our tremendous success at Fairmont Windsor Park. This is an exciting project, truly a piece of history in this region, and we are honored that Arora has entrusted it to Fairmont.”
Mark Willis, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, added, “There are few hotels in the world with the incredible heritage and grand, elegant estate of Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa. This is a perfect addition to a collection of hotels that already includes such icons as The Plaza in New York, The Savoy in London, and Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai. We will be honored to welcome Luton Hoo Hotel to the Fairmont family and are excited to witness the property’s transformation unfold over the coming months and years.”
Surinder Arora, Founder and Chairman of Arora Group, expressed pride in bringing the prestigious Fairmont brand once again to Arora’s portfolio of hotels. He emphasized the exceptional heritage of Luton Hoo Hotel, which has hosted esteemed guests such as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip during their honeymoon and witnessed Sir Winston Churchill delivering his famous post-World War II speech to a crowd of 110,000 people. Arora further stated that building on their existing expertise with the brand at Fairmont Windsor Park, they are eager to commence the redevelopment and restore this stunning hotel to its full glory and potential.
The redevelopment of Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa under the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand marks an exciting chapter for this historic estate. As the transformation unfolds, guests can anticipate a truly remarkable experience that combines luxurious accommodations, impeccable service, and the timeless elegance associated with the Fairmont name.
