Lufthansa Boosts U.S. Connections with New U.S. and Global Routes in 2024

Lufthansa Airlines is set to broaden its horizons in the summer of 2024, introducing three new connections to the U.S. from its Frankfurt and Munich hubs.

This expansion will bring Lufthansa’s total U.S. destinations to 27, marking a significant increase from its pre-Corona offerings.

Frankfurt’s New Connections

From June 4, 2024, Lufthansa will commence a year-round service to Minneapolis, Minnesota, offering five weekly flights. Minneapolis, nestled on the Mississippi river, serves as a gateway to the state’s urban and natural attractions, including national parks and the mesmerizing northern lights.

Additionally, starting June 6, Lufthansa will introduce a new route to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, providing five weekly flights throughout the year. This addition complements the airline’s existing service to Charlotte, North Carolina. Raleigh-Durham, home to several German company branches, will now offer employees a direct link to Germany and Lufthansa’s expansive global network.

Furthermore, Lufthansa will continue its winter service to Hyderabad, India, with five weekly flights in the 2024 summer schedule.

Munich’s Expanded Offerings

From Munich, Lufthansa is introducing daily flights to Seattle, Washington, starting May 30, 2024. This new route complements the existing daily service from Frankfurt to Seattle, effectively doubling the airline’s frequency to the state of Washington.

Hong Kong and Johannesburg are also making a comeback on Lufthansa’s summer 2024 schedule. While Hong Kong will be served several times a week, Johannesburg, last served from Munich in 2005, will see three weekly flights starting June 3, 2024. Additionally, the airline will maintain its winter service to Bangalore, India, with up to six weekly flights through summer 2024.

A380 Takes to the Skies

Aircraft enthusiasts have a reason to rejoice as Lufthansa doubles its A380 destinations next summer. From Munich, the Airbus A380 will serve five routes, including the return of Boston, Los Angeles, and New York (JFK). New additions include Washington, D.C., and Delhi. By summer 2025, Lufthansa plans to expand its Munich-based A380 fleet to eight aircraft.
