Discover Rotterdam: SWISS Launches Direct Flights from Zurich

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is set to broaden its horizons with the introduction of a new route in its 2023/24 winter schedules, connecting Zurich directly to Rotterdam, the Netherlands’ bustling second-largest city and major port.

Starting from January 22, 2024, travelers will be able to fly non-stop between the two cities six times a week, enjoying the convenience and efficiency that SWISS is known for.

Rotterdam, renowned for its impressive skyline, iconic structures like the Erasmus Bridge and Cube Houses, and one of the world’s largest ports, offers a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. The city is a hub of arts, museums, shopping, and nightlife, with top-notch institutions such as the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum. It is also a cultural melting pot, providing a unique blend of history and modernity, making it a fascinating destination for travelers from around the world.

With the addition of Rotterdam to its extensive network, SWISS is enhancing its connections to the Randstad conurbation in Western Netherlands. This new route complements the airline’s existing flights to Amsterdam, providing an additional attractive air travel option to and from the country’s economic and cultural heart. Make the most of your time in Rotterdam with a private half-day tour that covers the city’s top highlights, including the Old Harbor, Euromast, the Meent shopping district, and the Luchtsingel Bridge.

Benedikt Escher, SWISS’s Head of Network Management, expressed the airline’s commitment to expanding its network in response to customer needs. “As The Airline of Switzerland, we see it as our mission to provide our customers with an extensive network of attractive air services, and to steadily further develop and refine this in response to their needs,” he said. “We’re delighted that, in Rotterdam, we will now be adding a further destination to our network that is well worth visiting in every respect.”

The flight from Zurich to Rotterdam is a swift one hour and 30 minutes, and the city’s airport is known for its ease of navigation. Travelers can reach the city center in about ten minutes by car or 20 minutes by public transport. Additionally, Rotterdam is conveniently located about an hour’s drive from Amsterdam and half an hour from The Hague, with efficient public transport services available to both cities.

SWISS’s new services between Zurich and Rotterdam are now open for booking on swiss.com and through all other booking channels, providing travelers with more options to explore the rich culture and history of the Netherlands.
