Swipe and Fly: JetBlue’s Exclusive Credit Cards Hit the Caribbean Markets

JetBlue is raising the bar for loyal customers in the Caribbean. The airline giant announced its fresh collaboration with CIBC FirstCaribbean, the Caribbean’s top bank, and Mastercard, a dominant force in the global payments sector.

This partnership aims to roll out two novel credit cards for customers spread across five key Caribbean markets: The Bahamas, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Cayman Islands.

Starting this November, residents of these five nations will have exclusive access to the JetBlue Mastercard and JetBlue Select Mastercard, both by CIBC FirstCaribbean. Cardholders stand to enjoy a myriad of benefits, encompassing enticing rewards and the potential to accumulate TrueBlue® points. These points will serve as tickets to any of JetBlue’s 100+ destinations.

A cherry on top for early bird customers is the alluring welcome bonus. Within the initial 90 days post account creation, customers can earn either 10,000 or 30,000 TrueBlue points, contingent upon meeting specific purchase criteria.

Chris Buckner, JetBlue’s VP of Loyalty & Partnerships, conveyed the airline’s dedication to the Caribbean. “Our key objective is to deliver innovative programs and products to a broader spectrum of our ardent Caribbean clientele,” Buckner stated. He emphasized the added value and flexibility these cards provide, nudging users closer to their dream destinations with each purchase.

Mark St. Hill, CEO of CIBC FirstCaribbean, echoed these sentiments. “JetBlue’s status as the favorite airline brand for US-Caribbean routes, paired with Mastercard’s and our expertise, sets the stage for a dynamic partnership. We aim to extend unparalleled value to JetBlue’s TrueBlue members.”

Jimena Elia, Mastercard’s Country Manager for West & Dutch Caribbean markets, expressed enthusiasm about the venture’s extension into English Caribbean territories. She praised the collaborative effort in crafting solutions that cater to a dependable and streamlined payment experience.

Diving into the specifics, the JetBlue Mastercard by CIBC FirstCaribbean waives the annual fee. It promises double TrueBlue points for every US$1 spent on JetBlue, while other expenses earn a point per US$1. The JetBlue Select Mastercard, carrying a US$99 annual fee, offers quadruple points on JetBlue expenditures. Besides, cardholders get perks like free checked baggage for themselves and three fellow travelers, along with a US$100 yearly statement credit on JetBlue Vacation packages.

JetBlue’s revamped TrueBlue® loyalty initiative, unveiled earlier this year, guarantees more avenues for cardholders to accrue points and advance to the coveted TrueBlue Mosaic® status. Interested customers can get all the details and apply seamlessly via the bank’s digital platform at JetBlue’s official site.
