The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai

Riviera Maya Welcomes EDITION’s First Caribbean Luxury Resort

The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai, situated within a sprawling 620-acre nature reserve in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, marks a significant milestone as EDITION’s first Caribbean property.

This new luxury resort, resulting from a collaboration between Ian Schrager and Marriott International, combines the EDITION brand’s signature individualized hospitality with the rich cultural heritage of the Riviera Maya. Set to redefine the concept of laidback luxury, the resort boasts an array of unique features and experiences, blending seamlessly with its enchanting natural surroundings.

A Sanctuary Within Nature

Nestled in the heart of a nature reserve, the resort is a haven for flora and fauna, including iguanas, raccoons, and hundreds of bird species. It is particularly notable for its conservation efforts, such as protecting sea turtles through a comprehensive program. The property’s design respects the local environment, minimizing its construction footprint to preserve the area’s mangroves, lagoons, and the Mesoamerican Reef.

Architectural Marvel Inspired by Mayan Culture

The resort’s architecture is a tribute to the ancient Mayans’ concept of the universe, encompassing the heavens, earth, and the magical realm below. The design incorporates the region’s natural elements, with the structures inspired by the cenote, a sacred water source for the Mayans and a modern-day attraction. The resort’s journey begins with a three-mile road through lush mangroves, leading guests into a world where nature and architecture intertwine.

Luxurious Accommodations and Amenities

The property features 182 guestrooms, including 30 suites, with many offering plunge pools and terraces with stunning views. The highlight is the Sky Rooftop Villa, North America’s largest hotel penthouse, boasting unmatched ocean views, an outdoor infinity pool, and an expansive entertainment deck.

Culinary Experiences by Acclaimed Chefs

The resort’s culinary offerings are led by award-winning chefs Francisco “Paco” Ruano and Tomás Bermúdez. Chef Ruano helms the signature restaurant KI’IS, offering a tasting menu inspired by regional flavors and local ingredients. Chef Bermúdez brings Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with a Mexican twist to the SO’OL Beach Club restaurant. Additionally, Kitchen at EDITION provides an all-day dining experience with a focus on authentic Mexican flavors.

Embracing Local Art and Culture

The resort features a captivating photo display by Gabriel Figueroa, celebrating the golden age of Mexican cinema. The Lobby Bar showcases unique Mayan sculptures and vessels, creating an intimate and vibrant environment for socializing and enjoying inventive cocktails.

Wellness and Event Spaces

The Spa, located next to the fitness center, offers a range of treatments focused on wellness and mindfulness. The Ballroom, nestled amidst mangroves, is ideal for various events, and three smaller studios in the main building cater to private meetings.

Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability is a key focus, with the resort occupying less than 10% of the nature reserve and striving for the highest environmental practices. This commitment ensures a respectful coexistence with the local ecosystem.

The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai is now open in preview, offering an exclusive opening rate starting from $637 per night, inclusive of a $100 resort credit.
