MBEW 2023: Launch of MyTripleE Elevates Malaysia’s Business Events Landscape

The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) recently orchestrated the successful Malaysia Business Events Week (MBEW) 2023 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (The Centre).

Over the course of six days, the event played host to 400 business events professionals, offering them a deep dive into industry insights via panel discussions, training sessions, forums, workshops, and meaningful CSR initiatives.

One of the standout moments of MBEW 2023 was the unveiling of the MyTripleE support program, an integral part of MyCEB’s Meet in Malaysia campaign. Designed to bolster Malaysia’s appeal as a prime destination for regional and international business events, MyTripleE focuses on three strategic areas: Excel, Elevate, and Enliven. The initiative is poised to offer both financial and non-financial backing to optimize the delivery of top-tier business events, catering to various segments including conventions, exhibitions, and corporate meetings.

Elucidating the strategic design behind MyTripleE, Datuk Hajah Saraya Arbi, Interim Chairman of MyCEB, remarked, “MyTripleE aims to go beyond mere international market development. It seeks to expand local events and meetings, nurture unity among Malaysians, and emphasize cultural elements in governmental Business Events.”

With the proper allocation of budget and resources, the program envisions attracting 5.9 million delegates by 2030. This could generate an estimated RM42.12 billion in economic benefits and create approximately 25,833 jobs.

YBhg. Datuk Zamri Mat Zain, Deputy Secretary General (Tourism) from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Malaysia, praised MyCEB’s consistent commitment to the business events sector. He highlighted, “MyCEB has cemented its position as the industry’s pillar, successfully securing 149 business events as of August 2023. This translates to an estimated RM2.4 billion economic impact and approximately 494,015 delegates.”

He further stressed MOTAC’s ongoing support for business events and welcomed partnerships with non-industry entities, including NGOs, to foster growth.

Expressing gratitude for MBEW 2023’s success, Francis Teo, President of the Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS), said, “MBEW stands as a testament to collaboration, innovation, and collective progress. MyCEB’s recent efforts, including MyTripleE, will undeniably propel our business forward, promising an elevated landscape for business events.”

MBEW 2023 also showcased various signature programs, touching upon future trends, product innovations, and collaboration. Prominent organizations such as MSAE, ICCA, MACEOS, PCMA, and Simpleview contributed their expertise to the event’s success.

Echoing the industry’s commitment to sustainable practices, the MBEW 2023 incorporated MyCSR initiatives, which featured a blood donation drive and a tree planting activity, both of which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the event’s delegates.
