Apple AirPlay Integration Comes to Hotel Rooms

Apple AirPlay

IHG Hotels & Resorts brings Apple AirPlay to its hotel rooms, giving guests the ability to seamlessly and securely share content from their iPhone or iPad to their guest room TV.

AirPlay will begin to roll out in select IHG hotels globally before the end of 2023.

As the first hospitality company to integrate AirPlay, IHG takes pride in delivering unparalleled convenience, time-savings and friction-free service. Once AirPlay is available in hotels, guests will simply scan a QR code unique to the TV in their room to easily enjoy a personalized entertainment experience on the TV. Built with a foundation of privacy and security, AirPlay allows guests to stream, control, and share videos, photos, music, and more from their iPhone or iPad to the big screen, so they can watch popular streaming services*, including Apple TV+, rehearse presentations, enjoy vacation photos, and more, in the comfort of their hotel room.

"Working together with Apple to introduce AirPlay to our IHG Studio platform later this year marks another significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to enhance the guest experience. This technology will provide seamless connectivity and personalized entertainment options," said George Turner, Chief Commercial & Technology Officer, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

“Whether traveling for business or leisure, our guests can now enjoy the convenience of streaming directly from their iPhone or iPad to our in-room technology, creating a home-away-from-home environment like never before."

By incorporating AirPlay into the IHG Studio ecosystem, IHG Hotels & Resorts continues to lead the industry in delivering exceptional guest experiences that seamlessly integrate cutting-edge technology. This collaboration exemplifies IHG's dedication to constant innovation and surpassing guest expectations, ensuring a stay that is not only comfortable but also effortlessly connected to guests' preferred devices.

Streaming services have become increasingly popular. With 85 percent of U.S. households having at least one video streaming subscription, IHG recognizes the growing demand for enhanced entertainment options. The streaming industry is projected to reach a value of $330 billion by 2030, further emphasizing the significance of providing guests with seamless streaming capabilities during their hotel stays. With AirPlay in IHG hotel rooms, guests can pick up watching their favorite shows and movies, right where they left off, and will not need to worry about remembering to log out of their account when they leave.

IHG Hotels & Resorts remains committed to investing in transformative guest experiences, allowing guests to effectively manage their stay throughout their travel journey. By leveraging innovative technologies and partnerships, IHG aims to create stronger guest experiences, drive value for hotel owners and improve operational efficiency.
